There's a general consensus about his historical importance. Hitler was principally, and alone, responsible for starting World War II as well as responsible for the European Jew massacre and a Jew genocide in 1933. The atrocious actions that took place while Hitler was in power, the hate that he created and taught others to feel, and his wish to rule the world by whatever means possible are why he is important to history. He reminds us how not to behave. His final will and testament, written just before his suicide on April 30, 1945, he charged the Germans to continue the struggle against the Jews: "Above all, I enjoin the government and the people to uphold the race laws to the limit and to resist mercilessly the poisoner of all nations, international Jewry."
The importance of Hitler in history was he pushed for the second world war. Disobeyed the Treaty of Versailles and wanted to execute all of the Jews in Germany and have a pure Aryan race (pure german). Sad to say Hitler is perhaps the ultimate example of absolute power corrupting absolutely. (Although Stalin runs close) That so much destruction, so much grief & misery can be visited upon one man, aided as he was by, in reality, so few with so much fanaticism, so much fervour, is remarkable in its baseness. It is hard to believe just how terrible things were for so many in Europe as a result of WW2, and just how much effort & sacrifice the Allies, Russia included, had to make to overthrow him. Only as an illustration of what can be wrought by unbridled, total malevolence can we see just what devastation can occur. Yes, Hitler is an important Historical figure. It is so important that we Never forget just how terrible his regime was. And I suppose from that point of view it shows the value of History, because to look back & see what happened then is a way of, hopefully, ensuring that it never will be repeated, if only because the price to be paid is so very, very high.
Hitler was a horrifying dictator that showed the world how easy is to gain power and how democracy was easy to manipulate.

Adolf Hitler plays a major responsibilty for the outbreak and severity of the Second World War. His actions during the war, such as the massacres of civilians and his involvement in the attempted genocide of the Jewish and Romany populations also make him one of history's most reviled criminals.
The atrocious actions that took place while Hitler was in power, the hate that he created and taught others to feel, and his wish to rule the world by whatever means possible are why he is important to history. He reminds us how NOT to behave.
