Their strategy was going to be a Blitzkrieg, much like with Poland and France. They hoped to get their soldiers across the Channel from France and quickly seize control of London forcing Britain to capitulate. However this plan wouldn't have worked since the Germans lacked air superiority after the Battle of Britain, and couldn't gain naval supremacy in the channel due to a lack of above-water vessels. This would mean that their soldiers would either get strafed by the RAF or blown up by the Royal Navy before they got anywhere near the coast.
