They resented English rule and wanted independence. India was civilized, in their way, while the English were running around in skins with blue painted faces. they also could not do anything by themselves .they had to pay money to British as taxes,grow indigo and other drugs .they were not allowed to grow their own things and whatever they grew they had to sell it at a price set by the British. the British also treated Indians like uncivilized people .there was no racial equality.
