Italy

The political party that ran the country was the Fascists, which had similarities to the Nazi's. When Mussolini was forced to resign, the Germans put him in charge of the Italians that were still in the area occupied by Germany. Mussolini's resurrected Fascist state was known as the Salò Republic (Repubblica di Salò) or the Italian Social Republic (Repubblica Sociale Italiana, or RSI).

Answer Rome, of course. When Mussolini was removed from power on July 24, 1943, the Germans eventually grabbed him back. The Germans set him up as a puppet leader with his new residence at the Villa Feltrinelli located in Gargnano on the western shore of Lake Garda. During the last few days of the war, Mussolini was captured trying to escape out of Italy while hidding in the back of a German truck. His residence was "captured" by members of the US 10th Mountain Division.
