Discovered DNA, professor of Biology at Harvard , Nobel prize in 1962, wrote a book called THE DOUBLE HELIX , uncovered the molecular nature of cancer, ran the human genome project and identified 50,000 to 100,000 genes.
James Watson is best known as one of the co-discoverers of the structure of DNA.
Luria and Max Delbrück were among the leaders of the new "Phage Group", an important movement of geneticists towards microbial genetics. The Phage Group was the intellectual medium where Watson became a working scientist. The members of the Phage Group sensed that they were on the path to discovering the physical nature of the gene.
Watson, under the influence of the Phage Group, was aware of the
Avery-Mac Leod-Mc Carty experiment, which suggested that DNA was the genetic molecule. The experiments, which Watson had learned of during the previous summer's Cold Spring Harbor phage conference, included the use of radioactive phosphate as a tracer to determine which molecular components of phage particles actually infect the target bacteria during viral infection.
The intention was to determine whether protein or DNA was the genetic material, but upon consultation with Max Delbrück, they determined that their results were inconclusive and could not specifically identify the newly labeled molecules as DNA. Watson never developed a constructive interaction with Kalckar, but he did accompany Kalckar to a meeting in Italy where Watson saw Maurice Wilkins talk about his X-ray diffraction data for DNA. Watson was now certain that DNA had a definite molecular structure that could be elucidated.
with francis crick,he is credited with discovering the double helix structure of DNA
He was responsible for founding with a few other men the DNA strand which impacted on society as they could separate animals and other living organisms
he helped discover DNA structures
Watson and Crick proposed the double helical structural model of the DNA
Watson and Crick.
The two scientists to establish DNA are James Watson and Francis Crick.

James Watson is important cause he is an American molecular biologist, best known as one of the co-discoverers of the structure of DNA.
Watson and Crick both heavily influenced biological studies for their co-discovery of the structure of DNA. They were awarded a Nobel Prize for this discovery in 1962.

Watson and Crick; they determined the structure of DNA.
because he's famous
Rufus Robert Watson and Duncan James Watson.
the Watson table was named after James Watson
James Watson is not dead
James D. Watson
no James Watson is still alive=)
James Watson had a wife named Elizabeth Lewis. And they had two sons, Rufus Robert Watson and Duncan James Watson.
