Immigrants were not allowed to own land by law (at this time) so the Japanese parents put the home in the name of their children who were born in the US and were US citizens. The judge ruled that they legally owned the home for that reason.
The political views of a judge doesn't determine the decisions that they make. A judge is not asked what political party they belong to and decisions are based on law not political views.
