At the start of World War II, when being invaded by Germany, Poland's reaction was vigorous and confident. Trusting alike in its armed forces and in the pledge of the Western Allies to come to its aid, Poland engaged aggressively with the German invaders -- only to suffer a number of decisive defeats that soon led to its surrender.

The German invasion of Poland began on September 1, 1939. France and England declared war against Germany two days later, but did not have enough military force to take on Germany. The invasion of Poland eventually led to World War II.

Germany was looking forward to gaining back their land they lost after World War 1. They had already conquered a few nations and now it was time to get Poland. When the Germans invaded Poland, they used this strategy called blitzkrieg otherwise known as lightning war. The Polish Army fought bravely but one raid kept coming in after another. The Germans stormed the capital, Warsaw, and destroyed it or "wiped it off the face of Earth". They left Poland devastated and had them under Hitler's power in less than a month.

World War 2 also broke out when Britain and France declared war on Germany and her allies.
