There is a popular but false internet myth, spread by a group called the "birthers" (who believe President Obama was not born in the USA) that Barack Obama was adopted by his step-dad and became Barry Soetoro. Totally false, with no credible facts to support it. As numerous fact-checkers have noted, while Barack Obama got along well with his step-father, he was never adopted and did not change his name at any time.
