The earliest parts of the French and Indian War focused on an area called the Forks of the Ohio, where Fort Duquesne was built at the junction of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers. The site is now Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.

La Bastille was the stronghold stormed. This was the French castle that was stormed successfully on the French Independence day. We remember France fondly on this day due to its values, although the US proclamation of these values came before it.

Fort Prince George in present day Pittsburgh was the incomplete British fortification at the confluence of the Ohio, Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers. It became the French Fort Duquesne.
