Since the cold war wasn't actually a war (it was a TERM), nothing was destroyed.
The Berlin Wall was the important Cold War symbol that was destroyed in Germany in 1989. It was a physical barrier that separated East Berlin from West Berlin and symbolized the division between the democratic and communist worlds during the Cold War. Its demolition marked the reunification of East and West Germany and the end of the Cold War era.
The cold war from the point of view of the people and country's that were being literally destroyed was certainly not the Third world war. However from the point of view of those that make cold hard cash and gain power it was actually better then the second world war.

Altough wanna be Nazi groups still exist, the real McCoy Nazi's disappeared in 1945...they were destroyed in WWII (along with Imperial Japan, their axis ally). The Cold War commenced in 1945 with the advent of the A-bomb, between the US & the USSR. The USSR got their A-bomb in 1949. The Cold War wasn't about Nazis. They already had their time from 1933 thru 1945. The Cold War had it's time too, from 1945 thru 1990.
