Women? ::shakes her head:: I see some claims that their situation was much improved, but unless my memory plays me false, we are also talking about the puritans, Calvanists, and other "right-wing" sects of the Protestant church. My understanding is that they didn't grant women any rights. They had the right to belong to a male and pray to God that that male cared for her, protected her, and provided for her.
There were apparently a good many business owners in London who were female.
