A:

We attribute to angels a power of reason and intelligence far beyond that of mortals, yet we like to think that Satan fell from grace through the basest of motives in spite of being able to understand that he could not win. We like to portray angels as spirits with no sexual drive, yet say that Lucifer fell because of sexual lust. We refuse to accept that books excluded from the Holy Bible are divinely inspired, yet rely on the imaginings described in those very books for our explanations of events beyond our knowledge. There are four main groupings of explanations in the apocalyptic literature:

1. the ruin of the angels through lust;

2. The sin of the Devil as pride;

3. the fall of the bright son of the morning;

4. Satan's envy of humanity.

In the Book of Enoch, Enoch is taken on an inspection tour of Sheol, the shadowy underworld place of the dead, "the land of destruction, forgetfulness, and silence." During the journey he sees the sons of God in their fallen state and learns that these "angels, the children of heaven, saw and lusted after" the daughters of men.

The Book of the Secrets of Enoch (2 Enoch) added to the myth the significant new element that the angels rebelled on account of pride: "And one from out the order of angels, having turned away with the order that was under him, conceived of an impossible thought, to place his throne higher than the clouds above the earth, that he might become equal in rank to any power. And I threw him out from the height with his angels, and he was flying in the air continuously above the bottomless." It may be that this passage is of later, Christian origin, however the combination of the motifs of rebellion and lust melded two originally different sins on the part of the angel.

Isaiah 14:12-15 makes a quite specific reference was to a king of Babylonia, metaphorically likened to the morning star whose rays are erased by the rising of the sun. Jeffrey B. Russell (The Prince of Darkness) says that nothing indicates that Isaiah was even vaguely thinking of the devil, but Christians ignore the context and read it as a reference to the devil.

Yet another view of Satan's fall appears in the Books of Adam and Eve, where out of envy of humanity he refuses God's command to bow down to Adam. This is the reason generally accepted in Islam.

The federalists or the antifederalists had the more valid arguments?

There is no doubt that the Anti-Federalist had some very valid arguments but in many ways, their principles seemed to be flawed. The Anti-Federalists believed that the Constitution was an attempt to fuse the government into one nation and for them this would undermine any authority the states had. The contention of this argument was on the basis that, "there was an inherent connection between the states and the preservation of individual liberty, which is the end of any legitimate government.
