African Americans live hadn't changed much because of the black codes that had taken place. Those code limited the rights of africans Americans just as slavery. They actually had to abide by the black codes or they would be arrested for vagrancy( which is for being poor) or they would be forced into involuntary servitude.The KKK's didn't make life better it made life much worse because they hung blacks because the weren't in agreement to there slavery.
Answerit was horrible.... they were so oppresed from every angle.. that through their own hard work and determination, they finally gained their rightful place in this country
