First off, Dwight D Eisenhower is a man not a thing. He was President of our country during WW 2. He went to Auschwits with a group of soldiers after the war was over to see the damages and how they were treated.
Whomever posted the above paragraph has his facts way off.
First: Dwight D. Eisenhower was NOT President of the United States of America during WWII; that was Franklin D. Roosevelt, and upon his death on April 12, 1945, Vice President Harry S Truman became President.
Second: Dwight D. Eisenhower was Supreme Commander of Allied Forces (American, British, Canadian, Australia/New Zealand, South African, French (Free French until France's liberation in the Summer of 1944), and British Empire (Indian, Nigerian, Ghanaian, Kenyan, Tanzanian, Jamaican, Gurkha Nepalese, Guyanan, Belizan *British Honduran*) minus the Red Army (Soviet Union) during World War II.
Third: Eisenhower never saw Auschwitz. Auschwitz was a Nazi concentration camp (Its sister camp, Birkenau *together called Auschwitz-Birkenau* was the death camp) in central Poland, and was liberated by the Red Army in January 1945. Eisenhower DID see a number of concentration camps in Germany, most notably Buchenwald, but Auschwitz was NOT on the list, as that was in Poland, deep in Red Army held territory.
