There were two Glass Steagall Acts, one in 1932 and the other in 1933. The first of these was not officially called the Glass Steagall Act, but is unofficially given that name from time to time.

The Glass Steagall Act of 1932, as it was not officially called, permitted currency allocation for the Federal Reserve.

The Glass Steagall Act of 1933 established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation so banks would be able to be stable.
