The Treaty of Paris, also called the Paris Peace Treaty of 1783, was a meeting between British, French and American political leaders. American representatives included John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and John Jay. The result of the meeting was a document which formally ended the American Revolutionary War even though the British had surrendered at Yorktown 2 years earlier.
There were several wars ended by a Treaty of Paris. 1763, between England and France. 1783 between America and Great Britain. 1898 between Spain and America.
There was also one in 1951, establishing the European coal and steel community.
In this 1783 document the British recognized the independence of the US
