America's role in the Treaty of Versailles was to rebuild the European economy, promote free tried and create appropriate mandates for former colonies considered by President Woodrow Wilson. The president signed the treaty, but did not want the United States foreign policy decided by another body, therefore later rejecting the treaty.
The Treaty of Versailles
was a Treaty/agreement aimed (mostly) at Germany in WWI hoping to achieve peace. Germany was FORCED to join the Treaty. It included the Big 3 and what they thought; George Clemenceauof France thought they should keep Germany as weak as possible and force them to pay huge reperations (6.6 billion which was later changed because it would have taken Germany till 1980s to repay) and that Germany should not have a real army hence Germany and France were neighbours and Germany had already attacked France 3 times. 2) Woodrow Wilson of America said that even though his people said that they should not get involved in World Politics and they wanted to be isolationists yet he thought that he should keep Europe stable first. He thought they should not punish Germany too harshly or another war is inevitable. 3) David Lloyd George of the UK had 2 different views a)public; he said that his country has been heavily involved in the war and that Germany should be weaker and that Germany should take the blame for starting the war (they didn't start it). b)private; was that he was afraid communism would spread through Eastern Europe and that they shouldn't punish Germany too harshly or they may seek revenge. He used the public one to show his people that he was strong and able to achieve things.
Woodrow Wilson (USA) did not want to be so harsh on Germany as the treaty, as he wanted to keep Germany's economy stable for future trade, likewise with David Lloyd George (Britain). It was the french who were adamant on being harsh to Germany and demanding reparations in large sums etc...

The Holocaust is not related to the Treaty of Versailles.
America did not join the League of Nations because the Senate did not ratify the Treaty of Versailles. The reason for this is because America did not want to immediately send troops if another nation was attacked. The League of Nations had stated that, so the Senate did not ratify the Treaty of Versailles.
the treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919, after the was ended in 1918.
