Yes there is a relationship between the old testament and the law , as the book of Moses Leviticus is full of laws the Jews had to follow.
There are many proverbs in the Old Testament, especially in the Book of Proverbs, which has around 31 chapters that are devoted to proverbs. Because the vast majority of Christians believe that the Hebrew scriptures are just as valid as the new testament scriptures. While parts of the old testament scriptures have been overridden by Jesus's death on the cross and the transformation of living under the law to now living under grace, most Christians still believe that the old testament is still part of God's word. In fact, much of the new testament relates back to the old testament, the book of Hebrews in particular. Many Christians look to the old testament to find prophesies fulfilled in the life of Christ especially in the book of Isiah.
The New Testament can be described as The New Law as The Old Testament is to The Old Law. Christ brought a new law with Him which was to replace the old law as taught in the Old Testament. He taught that He was the Christ, the son on a living God. He also gave new commandments which the people were to live by doing away with the old, such as An eye for an eye. He taught that we were to love those who did harm to us and to love our neighbour as ourselves. He gave us the ten commandments and taught us how to pray. To go the extra mile when the need arose. He taught that everyone would be resurrected.
It would be fair to say the Old Testament is about 80% of the Bible. One must consider the length of Psalms and others being larger than any New Testament Book. The Gospels quote from the Old Testament nearly 700 times with the Book of Isaiah being referred to as the 'Little Bible.' So the New Testament represents about 20% of the Bible pages. That being said, many say the Law of Moses is done away with. But if they realized it was quoted nearly 250 times in the New Testament, even by Jesus Himself, they might think differently.

The law
The book of Isaiah especially. (Towards the end of the Old Testament.)
The Book of Law that was said to have been found in the Temple during the reign of King Josiah, around 622 BCE, is believed to be the Book of Deuteronomy . Many scholars believe that the book was actually written at this time, but placed in the Temple, to be found, so as to lend antiquity to it.
