The Puritans' plan for proper ordering of society was to purify the church ofEngland and to made colonies based on that. They believed god worked directly in people's lives, so anything good was god's reward and anything bad was god's punishment. they lived in a closed society. their government was based on a very fundamental interpretation of The Bible and was run by church elders. The elders were "visible saints. If someone spoke out they were banished.
