Allan Bakke was trying to gain admission to UC Davis Medical School. He applied twice and got rejected both times because he was White, while other "special applicants"(Blacks or Hispanics) were being accepted with lower academic scores. So Bakke filed an action on a violation of the 14th amendment( equal protection clause). The court decided that it was a violation of the 14th amendment and applied a strict scrutiny standard. The court didn't demand Bakke's admission because they had no proof that he would have been admitted for the special program. Bakke began his studies at UC Davis Medical School in 1978 and Graduated in 1982.
