The French Revolution did not help democracy in any meaningful way. The mass executions of people without a fair trial did harm to the revolutionaries who wanted freedom from the aristocracy, but not at the expense of denying freedom to innocent people. So yes the concept of "kingship" was destroyed, however it brought wars and famine to Europe. It also brought Dictatorship and more bloodshed in the form of Napoleon. There is much more to be said about the consequences of the French Revolution, however its short term affect was war after war.
The French Revolution didnt contribute to rise of democracy because after all they did they went back to kings power the king got all the power again so it didnt really help it was just a disaster people angry.
Between economic growth and democracy, economic growth should come first. When a country is able to develop in terms of the economy, then it becomes easier to embrace democracy.
