The Great Charge on Cemetary Ridge on 3 July 1863 is called "Pickett's Charge" for George Pickett commanded the largest single division in that assault. The assault itself consisted of an entire corp of Confederate infantry commanded by Lt. General Longstreet. It rightly should be called "Longstreet's Charge".

General Pickett was ordered by General Lee to charge the Union lines on the third day of fighting at Gettysburg. This is one of the most famous charges in American history, and has come to be called Pickett's Charge. Unfortunately for Pickett, the charge was a complete failure, and not long after, the South withdrew from the battle.
