The DX and LX models with the 4 cylinder engine have front disc and rear drum brakes. The LX and EX models with the V6 engine have four wheel disc brakes. You can tell these cars at a glance by their five lug wheel hubs and dual exhaust pipes. The 4 cylinder EX models come with front disc and rear drum brakes standard, but if they are equipped with antilock brakes (ABS) then they come with four wheel disc brakes.
If the ((ABS)) Light is on then it's a good thing indicating that the Antilock brakes sensor is in good condition. I too have a 2002 mountaineer
HI, Question, where the Lights on before you bled the brakes? or did they come on only after you bled the brakes? Please let me know, Ben (Benny the BomB) ________________________________________________________________ on some cars the antilock brakes throw a code so all you haft to do is clear the code.As for the parking brake it may need to be adjusted so just pull on it a couple times. it is self adjusting ou shouldent haft to adjust it were it splits unde the car or something els is seriosly wrong.
No they don't. Multiple studies have concluded that overall effect is close to zero. Studies conducted by the NHTSA and info from IIHS have both come to same conclusion.
This is because of the antilock brake systems, or ABS. When the ABS is activated in a vehicle it can feel like the pedal is pushing back at you when you stop or start to slowly press the brakes.
It could be a fuse , a sensor , or some other problem with the Antilock Brake System ( as long as the red " BRAKE " light in your dash is not lit up you still have " normal " brakes )

Put the key in the ignition. Turn key to"Run". A slew of warning lamps will come on. If you see one light up that looks like this: (ABS) - then the vehicle has an Anti-lock Braking Systen.

Anti-lock? As in "Anti-Lock Brakes"? Many cars don't come equipped with Anti-Lock Braking Systems. If you car is supposed to have anti-lock brakes and they are not working properly, you should have them fixed. You should never drive around with faulty brakes.
go to a mechanic with the antilock break computer. but you will find they want to replace the ABS computer then they will find the actual problem that plagues all intergue's the screw jacks on the actuator motors fail. some have actuall caused the back brakes to stop functioning. replace the actuator first, used or new. just make sure the used one did not come from a car hit in the front(bad brakes!) then bleed the master cylinder and brakes. be careful this could result in brake failure.
