The Christian church originated in Judea in 1 AD, as it was obviously founded by Christ. The Church spread to the Roman Empire, where it became known as Byzantine Christianity, and is now split into Eastern Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism.

-- It should be noted that a "Church" in a broader sense, is simply a place of worship and those were around forcenturiesbefore Christianity.

According to Orthodox beliefs, Jesus Christ established the Orthodox Church in the year 33 AD, as the first and only Church on earth.

This situation remained for the first 1,000 of the Church's history, when there was only one Christian Church throughout the world, known as the "One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church of Christ" or simply the "Universal Church." At this time, there was no such communities known as Roman Catholics, Protestants or Evangelicals, etc. These titles were given from the 11th Century onwards, after the Great Schism of 1054 AD, which caused a split to emerge in the Church. This was owing to growing theological differences between the Latin West and the Orthodox East. From then, those who remained faithful to the Church Councils became known as Orthodox Christians, and those who remained faithful to the authority of the Pope in Rome, became known as Latins or Catholics. The Catholics later had many other groups split from it and new groups emerged, such as the Protestants in 1517 AD, the Baptists in the 1600's, the Pentecostals in the 1900's and so on. The Orthodox Church continued to maintain what it regards as the true faith, which it has kept unchanged since the time of Christ and His Apostles. This unbroken chain or line of bishops is known as The Apostolic Succession, which means that the Orthodox Church can trace its history right back from the 1st Century AD until the present day. After all, Jesus only established One Church, not the hundreds or thousands of so-called 'churches' that we have today, most of which were established in recent years and have no historical connection to the first church of 33 AD.

Anecdotal evidence suggests approximately AD.30 is considered the start of the Christian Church. However, The Bible reveals God set up His kingdom (Church) on the earth. It began on the Day of Pentecost in city of Jerusalem after the resurrection of Christ. Read Acts 2:1-47.

Another Answer:

The prophecy in Daniel 9:25-26 speaks of 69 prophetic weeks until the Messiah comes which is 483 years. This referred to the command in Ezra to restore the Temple in Jerusalem in circa late March to late July 457 BC

Jesus was 30 year old when He began His ministry in 27 AD. He preached for 3 Passovers and died on the 4th as a sacrifice for all mankind. Some scholars have dated the start of the Church of God to Sunday, June 17, 31 AD which is exactly 50 days (Pentecost) after His death, Wednesday, April 25, 31 AD in the 9th hour.

Roman Catholic AnswerThe Holy Father often talked about the "domestic church" meaning the family. That it is in the family that one first comes to know and worship God. If you look at it that way, then the first "church" would have been Adam and Eve. If you look at the Church as the Christian Church, then the first Church was the one headed by St. Peter in the Acts of the Apostles.
