What was the first major battle of the US Civil War in which untrained Northern troops and civilian picnickers fled back to Alexandria and on to Washington DC?

The First Battle of Bull Run meets the description given by the question. The Union troops were raw recruits and unprepared for battle. The Southern army was actually not prepared as well. With that said, the experienced Confederate generals of Johnston and Beauregard led the South to victory. Journalists from Northern newspapers were also on hand to see the battle. They too were astonished that a Rebel army could defeat even a raw recruit Union army.
