I think you're thinking of Yathrib. Of course, it didn't become a holy city until after Mohammed travelled to it, having it renamed in his honor, al-Medinat-al-Nabi, the City of the Prophet. Today we know it as Medina.
You may also be referring to Mohammed's mystical journey to the Haram Ash-Sharif (Temple Mount) in Jerusalem where he received revelation.
Makka (Mecca) is considered the most sacred city of the Muslims. Madina and Jerusalem are also considered sacred by the Muslims.
