The last state in the continental United States to be admitted to the Union was Arizona. It was admitted on February 14, 1912. Not long before that, New Mexico was the 47th state to be admitted on January 6, 1912.

Of course, Alaska and Hawaii were admitted after Arizona in 1959, but they are not part of the continental states.
