If they wanted to teach anything among the sort, they must only teach evolution, which states that man evolved from lower forms of animals.

Raulston.Contrary to widespread claims, the play, film, and TV movies of Inherit the Wind were only very superficially based on this trial, which was in fact an attack on the McCarthy anti-communist witch hunt that took place during the late 1940s and early 1950s.
