According to Alexander H. Leighton, "morale is the capacity of a group of people to pull together persistently and consistently in pursuit of a common purpose". Music played a very important part in the lives of so many people for so many different reasons. Sorry to to see the earlier comments. The German people - not to be confused with the th Nazi political machine - were not all that thrilled to be bombed to death by allied planes, most Germans were not aware of the Nazi death camps. All they saw was the millions of children, women an elders killed by the bombings of the Allies. This killing and earasing of cities was WRONG and only caused the average German (not nazi) soldier to continue the battle to the end. Yes of course the Nazi were evil. But do you hold the Americans guilty for the recent wars of occupation?
I think the newsreels of the day, for obvious reasons, would suggest it was marvellous. Churchill was never more true when saying of Dunkirk that wars are not won by evacuations. But by the same token he showed, in public at least, a great, indomitable resolve to continue the fight against Nazi Germany come what may. There was great suffering in the larger towns & cities bombed by the Luftwaffe, but by the end of that year there had been significant victories over the Italians in both north & east Africa.
Up until the B-29 Superfortress's bombing of Japan itself, morale was always good; minus the families that lost loved ones during the course of the war.
Murderous anger mixed with grim determination.
im so buff
they were for boosting morale
The outcome of the war deeply hurt Germany and it people because during the World War 1 Germany went through inflation which affected its economy greatly. After the Treaty of Versailles and the Paris Peace Treaty all of the blame was formally put on Germany and Germany was blamed for the cause of the war. People in Germany began to resent the fact that they alone were blamed for the war which caused the rise of Hitler and the second World War.
The number of German soldiers who served in the German Military in World War I was 13,250,000. The number of American military personnel that served during World War I was 4,743,826.
A flood of German soldiers with high morale after their victory went to the Western Front, putting the Allied Forces at a disadvantage.
I would compare Russian popular morale in WWI to say- Japanese popular morale in 1944 in WWII.
they were for boosting morale
World War II
Treaty of Versialles where German lost lots of terretories. German job loss. German embarassment. Reparitions - German economy depressed, war debt repayments resulted in an unstable economy, German people looked for an alternative, stong leader.
that they need to be a world power
many people went mad or blind
Whose morale, in what place at what time? There were lots of different nations and armies and other specifiable groups of people involved in the war and they all experienced many different factors which affected their morale in different ways at different times. If you can be more specific you can get an answer. Michael Montagne
Hitler wasn't part of world war I. He emerged as a savior to the German people before WWII.
Almost 175,000 Allied troops landed in German occupied France. It surprised the German armies and shattered their morale.
It was pretty much unwavering.
The aims of propaganda in World War 2 were to influence public opinion, boost morale, demonize the enemy, and promote support for the war effort. Propaganda was used by governments to shape perceptions, unify populations, and garner support for their respective causes.
