The name of the turkey that kennedy decided he did not want to have killed has not been recorded, if it was given a name. It was given as a gift with the expectation that it would killled and eaten for Thanksgiving- it was not a pet turkey.

Traditionally, pardoned turkeys are sent to a farm to live out their days in peace. Usually however, that won't be for very long: Christmas turkeys are bred for maximum weight at an early age and not for longevity. They are at the time of their pardon already heavily overweight. They mostly don't live very long, usually 'humanely euthanized', because of all kinds of complaints that they develop in what for them already is old age.
