What were the advantages of the North during the civil war?

The North had a larger population and a greater industrial capacity. It also had a small but efficient navy, and an economy which was not dependent on farming. Also, the North had previously established diplomatic relations with Great Britain and France, and the moral advantage of the anti-slavery position. And the North had allowed the South to fire the first shots, which made the South the aggressor in this war.

The north had more man but also had beter wepons and the ability to produce all materials needed for war witch the southn could not do.

Although the Confederates (southern army) were better fighters, the Union (northern army) outnumbered them by a lot. if you look at the losses of battles in the civil war you will find that the Union lost more men than the Confederates. But toward the end of the war, the Union became better fighters and sped up their victory. In Gettysburg they had the advantage of the high ground.Biground top and Little round top.
