Best Answer

UN is the United Nation.

The United Nation is a young but established International Organization that in my opinion do the following:

- Set Standards for the Global States to follow

- Provide a channel for Mediation for International Matters

- Make Decision and do something that might be difficult to be archived by one state alone. (Even superpowers)

- Provide financial and military aid that could be pooled by other powerful states to help the smaller states if required in times of Natural Disaster. (In another words, to distribute resources from the better off states to the less fortunate stats)

- Keep peace in the world

- Foster cooperation among nations to solve world problems

To conclude, UN is trying their best to provide humanitarian aid in all aspect to reduce suffering all over the world.

I would put stress on Reduce as removing suffering I personally believe that it is not possible

What is the main purpose of the United Nations is?

The main purpose of the United Nations is to function as a representative assembly so that each membership country of the UN can have a diplomatic voice via its delegates to the UN. The hope is that the UN General Assembly can find a diplomatic solution to countries which find themselves in either civil conflict or in conflict with Another Country. However unlike the League of Nations which preceded the UN and was ultimately a failure, the UN has the power to sanction countries that violate international law. These sanctions can be diplomatic, economic or military.
