It started off the coast of Africa and moved west with the Trade winds. It first made landfall in the Bahamas and then struck Homestead, Florida as a category 5 hurricane. It weakened as it passed over the peninsula, then crossed the Gulf of Mexico and hit near Morgan City, LA.
