King Henry the Eighth was unsatisfied with the decisions the pope wouldn't let him make, therefore forming the belief of Anglicanism. He switched the rules of Catholicism to his liking so he could finally get the male heir he had been longing for.

Henry did not form any religion, he was a Catholic and a member of the Church in England. What he did do, along with the English Church was to tell the pope that when he interfered in another bishop's see , the pope was breaking the rules and traditions of the Holy Catholic Church!

Henry VIII was born a roman catholic, but when he asked for a divorce from Catherine of Aragon, the pope said no. Then, Henry VIII got angry and broke his alliance with the Pope. Henry VIII created a religion called the 'Protestant' religion, which is headed by the current king or queen. After creating the protestant religion, Henry VIII became a protestant.
