Asquith was the (Liberal) Prime Minister of Britain from 1908-16. Although he was Prime Minister at the time when Britain entered WW1 he's seldom mentioned in this connection in many accounts of the outbreak of the First World War. Instead, most accounts focus on the role of Edward Grey, who was Foreign Secretary at the time.
