Religion played a massive role in World War 1. England and Australia were still the go to church every Sunday or God will damn you to hell type. So of course they would have been praying everyday to keep themselves, comrades and families safe. Did you know that they took priests and nuns to the war. The nuns became doctors and the priests gave the wounded and I'll hope to keep fighting. They had church on Sundays just like their families back at home (only when permitted).

It could be argued the the crucial role played by the US in defeating the Third Reich allowed the religion of Judaism to survive, although that was certainly an incidental consequence of the war, and not a real concern of the US. The US does not have any established, state-sponsored religion, so it does not go to war for religious reasons (despite the fact that most Americans doubtlessly do believe that God is on their side - but then, people of most nationalities have similar beliefs).

Christianity.
The main religion in Russia during World War 1 was Russian Orthodoxy. It was the dominant religion in the country and played a significant role in shaping Russian culture and society at the time.
World War II was not based on religion. It was primarily a global conflict driven by political ideologies and factors such as territorial expansion, militarism, and aggression among major world powers. While religion played a role in some aspects of the war, such as the persecution of Jews by the Nazis, it was not the main cause of the conflict.
The role of what?
