I have a partial answer and plan to submit a question. Ithaca hammer shotguns with serial #'s below 33011 were produced before 1899. I have a hammer double barrel stagecoach shotgun with serial # 15864. I will post a question to find out its age.
According to the serial number, you have a Crass model gun. The manufacture date is around 1898. Check out www.ithacagunrepair.com.
Looks like a Winchester saddle rifle--lever & hammer
Proofhouse.com has Colt sn data.
By your ques I take it that 9943 was on the watertable and that it is the serial numberand it equtes to an Ithaca Crass 1889, as for your 212 number you stated in your ques that would equate to a 12 ga grade 2.
You can try sending it back to the manufacture
1930
With the serial number that you provided, your Ithaca hammer less double barrel shotgun was made between the years 1904-1907.I could not asses a value of this shotgun without a brief discription of its condition.I will say that most shotguns of this age and make will bring in the neighbor hood of 400 dollars and up.

The head of a carpenter hammer should be made of hardened steel for durability, have a smooth striking surface for accuracy, and have a slightly domed shape for better contact with nails. To manufacture a hammer head, the steel is heated, shaped into the desired form using molds or forging techniques, then cooled and tempered to achieve the desired hardness and strength. Finally, the head is polished and coated for corrosion resistance.
