The size of the engine has nothing to do with the cost to fill a fuel tank. I had two 86 Olds Cutlass cars....both with an 18 gallon tank. One with a 307 V8, the other a V6. The V8 got 25 MPG on the highway and the V6 got 18 MPG. It cost exactly the same to put 18 gallons of fuel in each car. In my case, the V6 had to be filled more often.
