At present (early-to-mid 2014), there is no Lebanon vs Israel war. There hasn't
been any military activity there for at least 8 years, and even when there was,
although it took place on Lebanese territory, it was waged by outsiders who had
set up shop there because it was a good place to attack Israel from, and it didn't
involve the government or military forces of the country.
U.S. troops have never fought in any Israeli war, except during the first Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon when they "escorted" Israeli troops out of Lebanon The U.S. only began selling weapons to Israel after there victory in the Yom Kippur war. That war was fought with, mostly out of date, Russian or makeshift Israeli weapons.
The 1982 War of Lebanon, also called "Operation Peace for Galilee" by Israel, was fought between Israel and Lebanon when the former invaded the latter.
YES. The two suicide bombings against the Israel Defense Forces' headquarters building in Tyre, Lebanon took place in 1982 and 1983, which was during Israel's intervention in the Lebanese Civil War. This intervention is commonly called the First Israel-Lebanon War in Pro-Israeli circles (in contrast to the War with Hezbollah in Lebanon in 2006, which is called the Second Israel-Lebanon War).
He provided weapons to Israel. (APEX)
There were a few wars that Israel fought in Lebanon: the Lebanese Civil War from 1981-1982, the Occupation of Southern Lebanon from 1982-2000, and the War Against Hezbollah in 2006.
The USSR provided most of the weapons that Egypt used in the 1973 Israeli Egyptian war in 1973. The US provided the weapons for Israel.
Israel won the second Lebanon war, but it wasn't a very pretty win. Israel was effective in occupying parts of Southern Lebanon, and Israel was also able to destroy almost all of the enemy's long range weapons and infrastructure. But the fact that rockets continued to hit Israel despite these achievements is somewhat a mystery. It is widley beleived that the rocket launchers would launch from civilian homes, knowing that Israel wouldn't attack. So essentially, the hizballah terrorists repetidly commited this war crime without any condemnation. If I hade to grade Israel on her performance in the war, She gets a B+. I would give hizballah a failing grade (F), but they get an A in turning the stench of defeat in to the smell of false victory. Neverhteless, Israel prevalied in every single battle on the ground in Lebanon, despite rumors of harsh Lebanese resistance.
Israel became involved in the civil war in Lebanon because the POL was based there.
No. Israel was not at war or declaring war on anyone in 1980. In 1981, Israel entered the Lebanese Civil War after a barrage of rockets coming from southern Lebanon under PLO control.
Yes and Hezbollah won and Israel asked for cease fire from Hazbollah.
It is the military campaign of Israel against Hizballah in Lebanon, waged in 2006.
They declared war on the fledgling Jewish State.
