Maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds but as an owner of a 1999 Tacoma with 2.7 liter engine I highly recommend you not exceed 3,000 pounds for your safety. Hard to stop with that much weight behind you. If you are going to regularly tow this much weight or are going to tow in the mountains I also highly recommend you install a transmission cooler. Otherwise you may destroy your transmission.
