The turning points for Japan in WW2 were the battle for Guadalcanal (7 August 1942 - 9 February 1943) and the battle of Midway (4 - 7 June 1942) where the Japanese never fully regained the initiative and fought what was essentially a defensive war afterwards .

One turning point for Japan in World War II was the Battle of Midway in June 1942. Japan suffered a major defeat and lost four aircraft carriers, which weakened their naval power in the Pacific. Another turning point was the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States in August 1945. These bombings led to Japan's surrender, bringing an end to the war in the Pacific.
