From a military/strategic point of view, he overextended the limits of his conquest beyond the limit of his ability to supply and reinforce his forces, in every direction, much as the Japanese did in the Pacific. Fighting in Russia, Scandinavia, France, the Balkans, and North Africa strained the limits of the German control system past its breaking point.
