Castles were made out of wood because there was probably no other material!
11th century castles were made out of wood.
Early castles were made of wood, and were built on small hills. Later castles were usually made of stone, though when a castle was needed quickly it might still be made of wood, and some castles were made of brick.
This depends on what type of castle your referring to. In the Norman times, there were two different types of castles built. There were Motte and Bailey castles and Stone keep castles (Stone castles). The Motte and Bailey castles were made out of wood and the Stone keep castles were made out of stone (obviously).
Stones Wood Motte and Baily( wood and stone)
the castles in the middle ages were made of stone not wood because wood would burn easily.
wood and mud!!!!!
There can set it on fire!
bricks or wood
Medieval castles were built for protection and not for comfort. The first castles were built using wood but, were found to burn easily. Stone was then used in replacement of wood.
they were made from stone and wood or earth and timber
Most castles in 500 AD were made from carved stone and wood. Some structures were made entirely from wood, but stone was the preferred building material at this time.
Concentric castles were better than Motte and Bailey castles because concentric castles were made out of stone and Motte and Bailey castles were made out of wood. Stone's better than wood for these reasons: * Wood catches fire easily * Wood rots within a few years * Wood's lighter making it easier to knock down Even though stone is better than wood in those many ways, wood's cheaper and, as explained above, is lighter. The wood being light means that it's easier to built.
