Tanks were introduced during the war. So the Cavalry and most Scouts and Messengers rode the horses...
Horses were mainly used as draft animals. Calvary were basically useless because of trench warfare, so horses delivered supplies to the front.
germans, americans, french etc..
Short answer: Everyone. All participants used horses in WW1 to some extent. While WW1 proved the obsolescence of horse calvary in the face of trenches and machine guns, each side maintained calvary forces to exploint a break through that never materialzed on the western front. (Horse Calvary had somewhat more success on the eastern front) The most universal use of horses whas in towing artillery and for logistics. At the time neither the internal combustion engine nor the existing road infrastructure were mature enough to be fully relied upon, especially in muddy conditions. British and American forces were perhaps more mechanized than most but neither was able to fully eliminate equine support units. Some historians have argued that Germany was forced to surrender not because it was running out of men for the army but rather that it was running out of horses to support them.
Sadly, many were killed in battles. Some when galloping over trenches/craters left by bombs... broke their legs, ankles, hips, and spine which means and still means today that they must be put down. Although, many horses did survive and were spread out on a number of farms across the United States and Europe.
They Carrying ammunition and food, and they also used for cavalry
Horses are strong and could move supplies faster and more efficiently than people on foot. They where also used in the cavalry.
Most of the horses were used for infantry and cavalry mounts as logistical support. By 1916 the US Cavary had 15,424 members in 15 regiments.
They were very useful for cavalry and for carrying equipment.
Dressage Training for the Cavalry Units.
1,000,000 horses were used in WW1 but sadly over 256,000 were killed.

Im not exactly sure on what you're asking so. . .they used alot of weapons, they had messangers that rode on horses, a good site for WW1 would be to just google WW1.
horses were chosen for their stamina and on how they reacted to extreme noise (it would not do to have horses stampeding as shells exploded, this could cause many more injuries to the soldiers)
All of the major countries involved in fighting in WWI had mounted calvary, including Russia, Germany, Great Britian, France, and the United States.
In WWI more than 14 million horses were used for things such as carrying ammunition, supplies, and soldiers. Sadly throughout out the war over 8 million horses died, 2 million were treated in veterinary hospitals, and 2 million were able to return to duty!
Horses were very important in WW1 for many reasons , Dogs were also important in WW1 as messengers and so were pigeons for their strength in flying long distances
no they used in in ww2
Many animals such as horses, ponies, and donkeys were used for transport of military equipment, food, and so on. Horses were used by Mounted Infantry and Cavalry but, as the Western Front was usually static, they were not often used. Dogs were also used for various purposes.
No horses are used for "war horses" anymore.
