Why did the Romans display the laws of the twelve tables in a public place?

They were important so the people would know what they should do and should not do. Before they wrote them down, lots of Romans got in trouble for breaking the laws that they didn't know, so that was not fair.

How were the young men to gain the trust of the Romans?

Young men were under the legal authority of their fathers. Moreover, families and allegiance to the family was very important to the Romans and the young usually respected that. This was enough for them to be trusted. When they came of age they simply acquired citizenship, which gave them the right to vote and (if from wealthy families) to start pursuing a career in public office (usually by serving in the army first).

What were some of the physical and social needs of the people in ancient Greece?

The physical needs were met by clean water, public baths, free grain and oil allotments, public latrines and on special occasions, the emperor would give a "donation" to all the citizens of Rome. Their social needs were satisfied by the free entertainments at the races and in the amphitheater. As the Romans were and "outdoor" society, the people were provided with parks or as the Romans called them, gardens. In the afternoons, there was usually some type of ball game in these parks where anyone could join in. The public baths were the main source of socializing. Even if you did not want to get wet, you could always go for the gossip.
