What nickname was given to state banks when the government started to put money into them?

Those were known as 'pet banks', a tactic employed by Jackson's administration to try to destroy the second national bank. The second national bank obviously collapsed eventually after its charter was not renewed, and the pet banks served to paralyse the system in the mean time. Ironically, Jackson's face is on the 5-dollar bill, despite the fact that he destroyed the national bank.

How did the wildcat banks contribute to the panic of 1837?

Pet Bank is another term for state banks. President Andrew Jackson, who hated the bank of the United States, took steps to disenfranchise it by emptying eat of all funds, and proceeding to transfer its funds to several pet banks. There was no currency backing up these banks. As a result, when economic issues, and over inflated spending occurred, the country entered a recession because there was no longer a federal bank with funding to ease the Panic of 1837.

Banks loyal to Jackson and the Democratic Party?

Pet Bank: In 1832, Jackson told his running mate, Martin Van Buren, that the BUS(Bank of the United States) was a "monster" that corrupted "our statesman" and wanted "to destroy our republican institution." "The bank, Mr. Van Buren, Is trying to kill me, but i will kill it." After Jackson's reelection in 1832, he tried to kill the BUS before its charter ran out in 1836. He appointed a secretary of the treasury who was willing to place all government funds in certain state banks. the banks were called "pet banks" because of their loyalty to the demoratic party
