What were some of the experiences of Australians as a result of their involvement in the World War 2?
Many young Australians lost parents. Many Australian parents lost children. Many Australians came back crippled and psychologically scared from the war experience. Australians in Darwin experienced bombing by the Japanese and in Sydney attacks by mini submarines. American soldiers on R&R also left quite a few litle new Australians behind. to name but a few of the experiences.
The Australians experienced harsh conditions, especially on the kokoda trail. Their uniforms rotted and were subject to Malaria and Dysentry. I would think if you took some time abnd read this attached web site fully, it should give you a pretty good idea of how the war effected those living in Australia. home.st.net.au
One effect was that Australia was a much more independent nation esspecially in regards to foreign policy. We started to look elsewhere instead of always to the British for protection. Also, it helped Australians recognise themselves as Australians and not British living in Australia. george and Phil wer here 08 xxx
Reaction to what? MLM ^^ dont worry about them there dumb. most Australians seemed to support the decision to be involved in the war. All major parties, churches and newspapers supported involvement. The only groups not to support the decision were pacifists such as Jehovah's Witnesses, and hardcore socialists who opposed involvement because the Soviet Union opposed it. thats pretty much it. :)
World war one started in 1914 and ended four years later in 1918. 416 000 Australians volunteered to help in World War I. 324 000 of these people served overseas. More than 60 000 Australians were killed. Us australians served in Gallipoli, Turkey; The Western Front in France; Egypt and the Middle East; In Germany, New Guinea, Mesopotamia and India, etc. hope this helps!
this bombing forced Americans to go to war when previously they did not want involvement It changed the course of WW2 because it fored the American Millitary to enter World War when before they wamted no involvement. As a result of the attack the American Millitary bombed the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The attack also marked the beginning of the Pacific War.
