Church of England, some Catholic, Jewish. Most colonists didn't attend church and were not that religious. We only think they were. Actually the Purtains weren't nearly as religious as we have made them out to be. There is no hard statistics on attendance, but the tax rolls compute the number of people who belonged to a church. An example is in 1649 better than half of adult males didn't belong to any local church. In Salem by 1680 only 17% of adult males belonged to a church. The truth is that Americans in the 17th century were far too busy breaking land and building homes to go to church.

Some did and some did not. I suppose so; that was their job as colonists!! Perhaps economic opportunity or religious concern for the "unsaved" souls of natives was also a motivator...
some people came looking for gold, some came for religious freedom, and some people came to work as indentured servants. (others who came were slaves or forced slaves.)
