The English had very good tactics.

On the coast people were told to look out night and day to watch for the Spanish and as soon as they caught a glimpse of them to light a beacon. Then along the coast others would see the beacon and light their beacon and so on...

The news got around fast (using the beacons) and soon the soldiers and navy new.

The Spanish had a very clever formation of a crescent moon. The English did had another trick up their sleeve. And they filled a couple of boats full of things that burn (wood,straw etc) they then set the boat on fire and sent the boat into the Spanish formation. Soon all the Spanish fled and the wind blew t5hem to Holland.

The battle ended in the North Sea. England were victorious.

Hope this helped.

To sail to the Flemish coast to pick up the auxiliary fleet containing the veteran soldiers that the Duke of Parma had embarked there as an invasion army. Then, to sail together to England and invade it. King Philip of Spain rather optimistically hoped that then the English Catholics would all rise against the (Protestant) Queen Elisabeth.

In the event, the Spanish admiral discovered but missed a golden opportunity to destroy the English fleet in its harbor, only because King Philip had not mentioned that particular city in his very detailed instructions. The invasion army fleet's port then turned out to be blockaded by a Dutch fleet so that the two fleets could not join up. Finally, the English feet in several skirmishes prevented the Armada to independently proceed to its targets and a storm came up that blew the whole Spanish fleet to Scotland and beyond.

At the time of the Spanish Armada, Spain had focused their naval battle tactics in two connected areas. One area was their reliance on having large battle ships and with that size the ships were able to handle the huge weight of large cannons.

The tactics that the Spanish Armada planned to use against the English fleet were the following:* Use their heavier guns to sink or severely damage the English fleet;

* Use their 18,000 soldiers to board the ships of the English fleet; and

* Spanish soldier ships used for boarding had anti-personnel guns mounted on the stern and bow sections of their craft.

The English had smaller and faster ships to move around easier. The English soldiers had more experience at sea and once they broke the Armadas formation, it was easy to dissemble.
