The industrial revolution had numerous causes such as population growth, economy, military. Britain was a big power figure and Germany as well. It was Germany that took over as the leading nation in Europe for this industrial movement because of their new innovations.

The arrival of cheap energy, in the form of the steam engine, was a major impetus in the Industrial Revolution. It was able to do work faster, stronger, for longer than the horse or wind/millrace, which were the previous suppliers of energy.
